Jessica Moore

was born July 9, 1982 in Fairbanks, Alaska. A few years after the passing of her Father, Lonnie Moore Jr., she moved with her brother Lonelle and Mother Linda to Palmer, Alaska. Growing up Jessica was very active. She started dance when she was six years old and piano at age eight. It wasn't until she was ten and went to one of her brothers basketball games that she realized she really wanted play basketball. Jessica started out playing with her elementary school team, and leagues in Palmer and Wasilla.

At twelve she was invited to play on her first Summer travel team called the Stellar Stars. Under the leadership of her coach, Swish Perryman, Jessica learned self discipline and if she worked hard enough, basketball could help her go to college and beyond.

Jessica attended Palmer High School where as a freshman she played varsity sports in volleyball, track, and basketball. Her basketball team took secondplace in the State Finals and was named an honorable mention. After her freshman year, Jessica transferred to Colony High School where she really blossomed as an athlete.

In volleyball she lead her team to a State Championship in '99 and a third place finish in '00. She was selected to the All State team both years. In track and field, she won an individual State Championship
for the tripple jump and a team second place finish.

In basketball, she led her team to three Region Three Championships, three State Championship game appearances with a State Championship win in '98. Above all, Jessica was the Alaska Gatorade Player of the Year and the Alaska Athlete of the Year for 1999 and 2000. She was recognized nationally as a Parade Magazine third team All American her senior year. In 1998 and '99 Jessica participated in the elite Nike Basketball Camp competing against the top 80 high school girls across the country. At the end of her Senior year she played in the Adidas Round Ball All American Game which recognized the nations top high school stand outs.
